Paint: The color of the room’s paint should be bright and energizing. Dull and somber shades are a strict “No, No”! Choose soft palettes. Pink, yellow, blue, white, orange are some of the colors you can choose for your kid. If you are planning separate room for your girl and boy, use shades like pink and purple for the girl’s room and blue, white etc for the boy.

Favorite Elements: Find out your kid’s some favorite elements. These could be anything from fairy tale characters to cartoon characters to even movie stars. Add some pictures of his favorites to make your child connect to it. This way kids start loving the room even more. You could even choose a theme and paint the entire room that way. Say for example, Aladdin is the theme. Then each wall will have a feature of the cartoon. But never over-do it!

Toys: Make sure that ALL your kid’s toys are present in his room. He should not have to run around the house looking for them. There must be enough free space in the room so that the child can indulge into some play with his toys.

•  The room must have minimal furniture. It should be airy, bright and spacious. If the room is small use of bunk beds would help save space. Use light colored curtains.
•  Make your kid environment friendly by placing a dustbin in the room for his use. Place a potted-plant in the room and ask him to water it daily. Put up board-signs with quotes on good manners.
