As long as I can recall, a table was meant only for studying or having meals on. Today’s modern tables come in all shapes and sizes. Beat this – modern tables now come in shapes and themes of your home decor, profession and even favorite sports team! An athlete friend of mine just moved into his Malibu beach four-bedroom apartment in CA. His house has this terrace area where we had coffee and I was surprised to see a table that looks like a shoe. The table is extremely well crafted with Scottish wood and great finish. The table’s legs also had drawers for some magazines and papers. Modern contemporary tables are taking the shape of everything and anything that is popular and looks different.

Coffee tables have become a need today and also a great piece of furniture to own for a quick chat session or some cappuccinos in the evening. Coffee tables should be short in height with low lying seating arrangement around with no storage capacity. Coffee tables can be made in wood, cane, glass, metal and even wrought iron. A lot depends on how often you will use the table and where will you place it.

Dining tables are known to be the meeting place of most families inside a house. Modern dining tables come with an electric sensor that moves the upper part of the table so you don’t have to pick, hold and offer a dish. One click and the dish is passed onto the person. Dining tables also come with extremely efficient storage capacity. I’ve seen this at my colleague’s and his dining table could hold plates, forks, knives and much more without any difficulty at all. Modern tables set trend and define the atmosphere around. Be it office to home, a table seems to catch                                                                                               everybody’s attention with ease.

Modern Chairs

The rise in the income of a common man has led to many changes in today’s lifestyle. Everybody yearns for a better living and definitely certain degree of comfort. Chairs are probably one of the oldest furniture we have been using over centuries. Of course, the level of comfort has changed and modern chairs are believed to make seating a wishful experience.

For years together until very recently, most chairs in cafe lounge would be stiff with barely any comfort to the back. A lot has changed now and modern club chairs and bar stools are pushy with great upholstery. Last week, we went to Las Vegas for my friend’s 30th. One of the street pubs we visited had this great club chairs. The club chair was made of leather second to none and the seating comfort was exceptional. Club chairs are great to slide into during weekend at home. They have high arms and prove excellent for relaxing.

A lot of people appreciate anything that takes up less space but provides equally good comfort. This is especially true when it comes to furniture. If you’re thinking on similar lines then perhaps a folding chair is just the thing you need. Folding chairs can be used at farms, backyards and in some offices too. Besides saving space, a folding chair is can stacked under bed or behind the dresser. There is little doubt that a folding chair is perfect for family time accompanied with some wine and a book.

Beds are considered to be the most essential part of a person’s private den – the bedroom. While it is a great feeling and perhaps luxurious too to have a bed that has a canopy giving a royal look, a contemporary bed is always the need of the hour. Oval and round shaped beds are making the new fashion statement everywhere. Another great value addition is that you can now place the bed in the middle of the room rather than corners. After all, the most important part of your bedroom needs center stage. Contemporary beds are easily movable, affordable and can in many cases be dismantled and fixed again.

Investing in furniture is always a big decision since its implications last longer than expected. Budget, space and requirement must be considered and reconsidered while looking for furniture. If you have a studio apartment like mine or a small apartment and are looking to buy sensible furniture then perhaps you must sit back and do some homework. Most small apartments don’t have too much space to offer and the little that they do, require intensive planning so the right furniture is bought.

With the urban life moving into the fast lane than ever, there are some things that are needed more than ever before – an end table is just one of such things. Coffee is pretty much a part of our culture but that is not just the reason. An end table can also be used for quick paperwork, brief discussions, etc. Last year, when I moved into my new apartment on the 42ndstreet, I bought an end table for my living room. In small apartments, coffee tables consume a lot of space especially around the corners but an end table is eye candy for visitors and guests. They add charm to your living room. You can buy an end table either in wood or in metal like wrought iron. Personally, I suggest a wooden table is better because of its longevity.

Most Americans spend a lot of time watching television so if you have Lost or Two and a Half Men scheduled then buying a television cabinet is not a great choice. You should probably buy a television stand that is compact rather than a cabinet. Compact television stand is the flavor of the season too. I bought my LED TV last Friday and because of the space constraints, had it fixed on my wall.

 

Also, replacing standing lamps with overhead lamps is space-saving idea. Overhead lamps can be placed just above the sofa and offers adequate light for the reader.No matter what the space of the apartment, a little attention to detail and window shopping will give you whole world of unique ideas to make your place a living heaven!
